we Run
Our members run for office - and win - at all different levels. From city-wide and district-wide roles, to school and community offices, our members are influencing outcomes for children.
Question: What made you decide to run for School Board? Why now?
Kareem: I viewed the current pool of candidates and wanted to ensure that there was a school board member that would be dedicated to community engagement and district connectivity. I didn’t see enough of the qualities that I believe are needed so I decided to become a candidate. I believe that I am uniquely qualified to help the board and district hear the voices of our marginalized families and students.

Question: What is your Vision for Impact statement?
Gus: I will use the knowledge and skills from School Board School to inform policy decisions and processes I am a part of in other fields. This will ensure there is a student-first approach and voice at the table. I also want to make my public school advocacy a lifelong commitment.
